Color

"The whole world, as we experience visually, comes to us through the mystic realm of color."
- Hans Hoffman

Color has formal, expressive, and symbolic qualities that all interact to create a complex principle of design. Pantone is a company that has developed a standardized color system that is used by many industries including graphics, interior design, and fashion. Each season, Pantone produces an official list of ten colors that will be the "fashion colors" used by the majority of apparel companies. A list of the fall 2010 fashion colors are shown above. Fashion colors for fall are typically warm shades with low intensity to reflect many of the natural colors seen during the season. This is the case for Pantone's Fall 2010 color trends as well. To illustrate how fashion colors are derived from colors found in nature, I have focused the next ten posts on Pantone's fashion color forecast for Fall of 2010.
